Ben Lomond, Tasmania is a short 50-minute drive from the Launcecston City. It has a snow ski season once a year in winter for 3-4 months. Ben Lomond is home to Ben Lomond Ski Sports; granting clothing, ski, snowboard, and toboggan hire. With an altitude of 1570m, it's one of the more popular mountains in Tasmania and one of two mountains with ski lifts. Ski lift passes are delt in two segments, full-day and half-day. A Half day pass is $45.00 AUD (9:00am - 12:30pm + 12:30pm - 4:00pm) and a full day (9:00-4:00pm) is $70.00 AUD.

To access Ben Lomond National Park, each vehicle must display a Tasmanian Parks Pass. More information can be found here. Parks passes can be purchased online here, so if you're halfway to the mountain with an internet connection... Have no fear!

The scenery on Ben Lomond is unlike any other. Photographers come from all around the world to photograph this incredible scenery. The best views can be found at the top of Jacob's Ladder, a winding road climb to the summit of Ben Lomond. The Jacobs Ladder road to the top of Ben Lomond is said to be one of the scariest drives in Australia. It is not recommended to climb this road in winter without a local guide, a 4 wheel drive, and snow chains. If your vehicle has 4WD, it is still recommended to carry snow chains in case. These can be purchased at Autobarn in Launceston. They'll also accept returns if your purchase remains unopened.

Upon reaching the summit, you'll be greeted by a relatively flat road to the ski village. There is ample parking at the ski village, with a short walk up to all the buildings and public huts. At sunset, lots of wildlife come out to play and graze on vegetation, and any food scraps left behind by tourists. Within the Ben Lomond Ski Sports building, a cafeteria is located with hot food and refreshments. The wonderful team here are also happy to answer any questions and queries. Getting to Ben Lomond

When leaving Launceston, drive out past Newstead and follow the signs to St Leonards. St Leonards, Launceston is the last large suburb in which you need to drive through to access the C401 and proceed up to Ben Lomond.
