A Sustainable Angling Series for the Tasmanian Government

Prime Perspectives partnered with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania to produce Mixed Bag Fishing, a comprehensive digital series designed to redefine recreational angling across the state.

The Vision

The core mission was to promote fishery sustainability by diversifying the "target list" for local anglers. By educating the public on the abundance of delicious, lesser-known species available in Tasmanian waters, the series aims to reduce environmental pressure on overfished stocks and ensure a healthy marine ecosystem for generations to come.

The Production Scope

This project stands as a testament to our ability to deliver high-end, educational content in demanding outdoor environments. The series features over 25 specialised films, meticulously organised for each featured species alongside a large gallery of still images for promotional purposes:

  • How to Catch: Strategic insights into gear, locations, and techniques.

  • How to Fillet: Expert demonstrations on processing catch with minimal waste.

  • How to Cook: Culinary inspiration to showcase the quality of local sustainable seafood.

  • Promotional videos and tackle talk segments.

Why It Matters

At Prime Perspectives, we thrive when working on projects that align with our ethos of conservation and outdoor storytelling. This collaboration highlights our capacity for large-scale project management and our commitment to producing content that serves both the community and the environment.

Results & Impact

Despite being only midway through its release cycle, Mixed Bag Fishing has already ignited a significant shift in the recreational fishing community. The series is transcending traditional "how-to" content, evolving into a powerful movement for sustainable resource management.

By The Numbers

The series' digital footprint reflects a massive appetite for high-quality, educational outdoor content. To date, we have achieved:

  • 85,000+ Views on Facebook: Capturing the attention of the established angling community.

  • 21,000+ Views on Instagram: Engaging a visually-driven audience and the next generation of fishers.

  • 4,000+ Views on YouTube: Building a long-form educational resource for deep-dive learning.

National Recognition

The project’s influence has extended far beyond state lines. The series has captured the attention of premier national bodies, including the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC). By earning the endorsement of such high-level organisations, the Mixed Bag Fishing message is being amplified as a gold standard for sustainable fishing education across Australia.

A Lasting Legacy

The true success of this project lies in its dual impact:

  1. Immediate Diversification: Challenging current anglers to pivot their focus toward a wider variety of edible species.

  2. Future-Proofing: Equipping the younger generation with the ethical frameworks and technical skills necessary to maintain Tasmania’s world-class fisheries for decades to come.

"A resounding success that proves the power of high-end production in driving environmental change."
